You can pay for one way or round trip. The ride takes 3 minutes. We did one way. Then you can either walk down (10-15 min) or take the elevator. It takes you up to the restaurant Dattler where you can get some black forest cake and enjoy the view of the city. Would recommend!
Took the Schlossbergbahn the other day to get up to the hill. You should know that this funicular ends up roughly at the half height to the top. Near the station is is a very nice restaurant with superb terrace viewing the old town and the cathedral. From here it is another 15 min walk up to the top of the Schlossberg and zhe tower.
Price for the ride is reasonable, ca. 3€ one way/6€ return ticket.

this was a waste of money and time. for the few meters that this sailbahn takes you to the top makes no sense and is a waste of time. its more enjoyable to go by foot and then you are there. only if you have problems walking makes sense to use this teleferic
